Moon Phase Squash Blossom Necklace
Through the love and support of a dear friend, I was granted the amazing opportunity to live in Santa Fe, New Mexico for about 9 months. I had never even visited when I enthusiastically accepted her offer. I was inspired by the mountains and the Native American culture that still thrives there today. The lack of light pollution and the elevation allows you to see so many more stars than what I'm used to in Kansas City. When the moon rises over the high desert, it looks enormous. Santa Fe became a spiritual sabbatical for me, and I am so grateful for my time there.
The Moon Phase Squash Blossom Necklace combines everything I fell in love with in Santa Fe into one truly powerful necklace. The phases of the moon are present, with a gorgeous 7mm labradorite cabachon as the full moon, shining brightly in the middle. The pendant is copper, and its my adaptation of a modern squash blossom Native American necklace. The pendant is suspended from 16 inches of rosegoldfilled chain and findings. Another labradorite hands from the end of the 2 inch extender chain.
Labradorite is the stone of change, and it is the perfect stone to represent the ever changing phases of the moon. It not only assists us through changes that are good for us, it also looks like it is constantly changing. This is due to its inner fire of colors that change depending on the lighting. It heightens our intuition, assists in communication, and eases anxiety, especially for those with an over active mind.
